Virgin Music Group, the world’s leading partner to independent artists, labels and entrepreneurs, announced today that they have partnered with award-winning actor and emerging singer/songwriter Kate Hudson for her recorded music debut. The first single under the new deal, entitled “Talk About Love” is set for release on all major DSPs tomorrow. The track was co-written by Kate with Linda Perry and Danny Fujikawa and produced by Johan Carlsson and Fujikawa.
With a deep love of music that extends back before her acting career began, the woman who brought the ultimate rock muse Penny Lane to life in Cameron Crowe’s Academy Award-winning “Almost Famous” wanted to wait for the time and music to be right.
“I’ve been caught up writing and witnessing life in songs since I was a child. But it always comes down to the moment, and the ability to make sure you can be there for the music. Finally, for me, that time is now,” says Hudson on becoming an independent recording artist. “I’m so happy to be a part of the Virgin Music family. This has been a true labor of love and to have the full support of a team that nurtures an artist’s vision has been a refreshing and inspiring experience.”
“Kate is the kind of uniquely brilliant artist who will be right at home at Virgin Music,” said Jacqueline Saturn, President of Virgin Music Group North America, and EVP of Global Artist Relations. “To be a part of her music debut is a truly special moment for all of us who work here.”
Hudson is managed by Sandbox Entertainment Group CEO Jason Owen and President Jake Basden. Along with Hudson, Sandbox also manages an elite group of award winning and record breaking artists including six time Grammy award winner Kacey Musgraves, Kelsea Ballerini, Faith Hill, Little Big Town, Dan+Shay and Midland.
