In the third episode of Mighty SONG Writers, a new video series to support Philadelphia-area nonprofit Mighty Writers, Grammy nominated singer/songwriter Jewel discusses the elementary school teachers who inspired her, the first book she fell in love with, and the tricks that helped her learn to read despite her dyslexia.
"I spent so much time worrying I wasn't good enough. When I stopped doing that and put that energy into going, 'what makes my brain unique or special?', things really changed for me," she says in between performing songs.

The Mighty SONG Writers series aims to raise money to support Philadelphia-based non-profit Mighty Writers, which teaches reading and writing to thousands of low-income and marginalized students every year and is seeing more need than ever during the pandemic. The series will continue with a new video every Wednesday.
